Another monster and poem from the original version of my kid's book "Terrabella Smoot and the Unsung Monsters"

Big Lou

Ha’alele Papahe’enalu
Or “Big Lou” as he’s known to his friends,
Loves to hear surfers go “AAAA! Spalsh! Blub!”
As their fun he mischievously ends.
For Lou’s the Hawaiian spirit of the wipe out,
And he makes catching waves a tough chore,
He’ll flip you, dip you and eighty-six you,
Leaving you dazed right back up on shore.
On his zombie shark Kookmano,
He tosses folks all ‘round his home,
Serving up “Neptune cocktails;”
Mouthfuls of sea, sand and foam.
His specialty is sand in your swimsuit,
Washed there when you’re thrown in the ocean,
It’ll splash into the most uncomfortable of places,
And cause you a whole lot of commotion.
His laugh sounds like a squid with the sniffles,
You’ll hear it as he shoots right on by,
Leaving your head stuck in the sand,
And your toes pointed up at the sky.
So if you’re headed down to the beach,
With riding the waves as your plan,
And you see Big Lou flinging surfers about,
It’d be best just to work on your tan.
