Alice and the Cheshire Cat by JonBeanHastings Alice and the Cheshire Cat by JonBeanHastings
Alice and the Cheshire Cat, just before he fades into nothing but a smile.

Commissioned for my friend's new baby. She wanted classic children's book heroines to inspire her new daughter, Zoe Calamity Snell (yes, that's her real name.)

Watercolor on watercolor paper.

Thank you, my dear. It was very difficult not to draw him like the Disney version (I did use the colors, though... or at least as my color-blind eyes would let me).

That's what I love about it...you didn't make a Disney clone, but you didn't go the opposite direction and make him creepy.

And the colors are most definately the proper Cheshire purple.
